Here we handpicked the best 6 road trips that you should take once in a lifetime and satisfy your wanderlust.
Bikaner > Jodhpur >Jaisalmer(white city > golden) – A road trip starting from Bikaner to Jodhpur to Jaisalmer was an amazing experience. It is always better to start at the very early hours in the morning to avoid rush. From Bikaner NH62 is the best option to reach Jodhpur via Bikaner-Barmer road. This route has many tolls but it is a faster route than others. To reach Jaisalmer, Phalsund-Jaisalmer road via NH125, is the fastest route. The best part of this drive was comfortable due to the better road condition and picturesque view.
Delhi >Khajurao (green meadow, pristine nature) – The drive from Delhi to Khajurao was a pleasing and awe-inspiring view. You can take the Bundelkhand Expressway. The road was not in good shape for a relaxing journey but the view was excellent and a good treat for driving enthusiasts.
- Delhi > Kolkata (bong connection) – the journey from Delhi to Kolkata is about two days and covers around 1536km. Due to the better road conditions, such a long road drive will never make you feel bored while travelling. There are five-six stops along the way from Delhi to Kolkata. In between, you can halt at Aurangabad or Banaras for an overnight stay. You can take the route of Purvanchal Express. This route covers 9 districts of UP and ends in Ghazipur. Since it is a newly-opened expressway, hardly anyone can get to any pump stations while driving. So, it’s always better to fill up the fuel before getting on the expressway because this route roughly takes 2-3 hrs.
- Delhi >Lucknow (foodie’s heaven) – the best way to reach from Delhi to Lucknow via Agra- making use of the two famous expressways – Yamuna expressway and Agra to Lucknow expressway. This route is faster and safer to travel but you may get tolls here. Because of the opening of Yamuna expressway, the distance between three cities of Delhi, Agra, and Lucknow has reduced substantially. This Agra – Lucknow expressway route is good enough to drive comfortably.
Mumbai >Goa (double the fun) – A road trip from Mumbai to Goa is nothing short of mesmerising – all scenic beauty, with western ghats, and a top choice for any travel-lover. The Pune-Kolhapur route via NH4, is the preferred and safest route with many tolls and can be covered in 10hrs. But, the adventure-seekers may choose the Chiplun-Ratnagiri route via NH66. Both the routes have great views and ample options of eateries to stay satiated.
6. Delhi > Udaipur (a royal journey to remember) – the drive from Delhi to Udaipur approximately takes 9-11 hrs via NH48, as it is preferred as the fastest and safest route. The route passes through very contrasting landscapes – the concrete skyline of the capital region, transitioning into the very rustic surroundings of the desert state.
